BIO
Marissa is a paralegal at Jafari Law Group who assists the attorneys in all aspects of employment litigation and client communication, while also focusing on U.S. and international patent and trademark portfolio management and filings. Her areas of expertise include case management, calendaring, and legal organization. In the employment law arena, Marissa plays a key role in supporting attorneys with pre-litigation fact development, document review and production, drafting discovery requests and responses, and preparing case timelines. She is actively involved in coordinating witness interviews, compiling damages analyses, and assisting with trial preparation. Marissa works closely with the firm’s filings before the TTAB, USPTO, Federal Court, and State Court.
Before joining Jafari Law Group, Marissa earned her bachelor’s degrees in criminology, law and society, and psychological sciences with a minor in political science from UCI. While completing her undergraduate education, Marissa interned at the Harbor Justice Center in the Public Defender division. Upon completing her degree, Marissa continued her education through UCI and received a Paralegal Certificate. As a member of the National Association of Legal Assistants, Marissa is working towards completing the Certified Paralegal program.
In her free time, Marissa enjoys traveling to new countries and immersing herself in different cultures, especially through local food and language. She’s an avid hiker who finds inspiration in nature and enjoys exploring national parks and scenic trails across California. Marissa is passionate about languages and is working toward her goal of becoming a polyglot—she speaks Spanish fluently and is currently studying Portuguese and Russian.
