David Vedad Jafari

Managing Attorney

"I love and respect entrepreneurs and will go out of my way to help secure their Intellectual Properties including patents and trademarks"

BIO

For the past 21 years, David Jafari has been litigating in excess of 100 civil cases in both state and federal courts in California, Texas, Washington D.C., Illinois, North Dakota, and before the International Trade Commission and the Hauge. His role as the lead trial attorney has prepared him to be an advocate unlike any you have ever met. Those who have underestimated his abilities and passion for fighting to the bitter end and winning at all costs have done so at their own peril and have often found their names on the wrong part of their company's check, i.e., at the bottom as the signer!

Although David Jafari's education and his experience as a computer hardware engineer originally led him into the field of intellectual property law as a registered patent attorney, he soon determined that his true passion lies in the courtroom. After graduating cum laude from law school in 1999, he worked for one of the largest international law firms in the U.S., and developed his patent litigation skills under the supervision of such great trial attorneys as Ray Lupo and Donna Tanguay of McDermott, Will & Emery in Washington D.C. He was assigned to work on the firm's most important technology clients: Intel, Micron Technologies, Broadcom, Intergraph Corporation, Medtronics, and Hitachi Digital systems. His knowledge of computer architecture, memory, CPU, computer communications networks and his sharp analytical skills as well as his skills as a great communicator made him a rising star!

In 2005, he founded his firm, Jafari Law Group, which at first focused on both procurement and enforcement of patent and trademark rights. The firm soon developed a loyal client base comprising of manufactures such as Viking Access Systems, T-RexGrilles, PrimeTech, and SprintRay , Electronics distributors such as Kenex Pro and Sourceability, e-commerce companies such as SameSurf, EuroCuisine, and SokSystems, and many other start-ups and entrepreneurs. The firm later expanded its practice area into business litigation, including shareholder dissolution actions, corporate compliance, breach of licensing and contract cases, and employment litigation. In 15 years, the firm has filed in excess of 500 patent applications both in the United States as well as internationally. The firm has also obtained numerous trademark registrations on behalf of its clients and has handled both patent infringement and trademark infringement actions representing plaintiffs and defendants across various federal courts in the United States.

David Jafari has had an unmistakable passion for representing the underdog and he has satisfied that passion by accepting contingency representation of employees fired or mistreated at their jobs because they were harassed sexually or otherwise such as because of their disability, retaliated against because they had reported the employer's unlawful conduct, i.e., whistleblower litigation, discriminated against because of their race, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, or religion or had been victims of wage theft by an employer who violated wage orders and labor laws such as overtime, meal and rest break violations, etc. For the last 10 years, David Jafari has litigated, and arbitrated employment cases against such fortune 500 companies such as Walmart, UPS, Rockwell International, General Atomics, Unger Fabrics, Aztech Engineering, Kohl's, Vons, BMW of North America, McDonalds, Burger King, Seasons Hospice, and many more collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars in settlement for his clients' cases. In this endeavor, David Jafari has faced off fearlessly with many of this country's largest and most powerful labor law firms such as Fisher & Phillips, Sheppard Mullin, Ogletree Deakins, Seyfarth Shaw, Littler, Jackson Lewis, Mintz Levin, and many more less known firms.

David Jafari is also an immigrant. He arrived in the United States in 1978 and attended George Washington University. He completed his B.S. and Masters degree in electrical engineering and completed his course work towards his PhD. He worked for Gould Electronics in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and was the founder of several start-ups the most successful of which LaserShip became a multi million dollar shipping and logistics enterprise in the east coast. David Jafari also conducts meditations for IVAMS, and is a panel fee arbitrator for the Orange County Bar. He is also an adjunct professor of law teaching Intellectual property law at his alma mater Western State University, College of Law. He has been married for over 25 years, has two children, and in his spare time, he likes to run, cook, and write poetry!
